Clay Family Establishes New Local Pastor Scholarship In Memory of Parents
The Foundation is pleased to announce the addition of a new scholarship to our Local Pastor Scholarship Program. We want to express our deepest gratitude to the family of the late Rev. George and Mrs. Wilma Clay for establishing the “Rev. George & Mrs. Wilma Clay Local Pastor Scholarship.”
The Local Pastor Scholarship Program was created this year to support a treasured group of people in our state. The number of Local Pastors serving our churches has seen a dramatic increase. A Local Pastor is a full-time or part-time pastor of a church and is pursuing his or her education, while caring for a congregation. This individual becomes licensed and educated through the Course of Study, a year-round experiential and classroom learning process sometimes requiring the individual to stay on campus for a two-week period. Most of the time, Local Pastors are responsible for all of the educational and travel costs with little financial assistance. This responsibility comes while caring for a congregation, and most times carrying another job.
These scholarships have been established to ease the financial burden for these individuals. It is a wonderful way to pay tribute to the future of the church, while honoring the memory of a loved one. Thank you to the Clay family for the tremendous generosity you have shown, and the support and love you are passing on to our Local Pastors.
